Day 22 - Friday 20th March 2026

 Friday

It was a momentous day for the Project and our Railway as the Cill Beams for the new bridge were lifted into place.

I couldn't make site for the first lift, however our Civil Engineering Manager was there to see this great event.  Unfortunately the photos have the Contractor's staff, I am unable to share.

I do have some from the second lift, which was for the west abutment or Groombridge side.

My Dad in the photo!

Is that the same Beaver Bridges lorry as yesterday or a different one?  Remember this is the second lift!

It was infact the same lorry.  Part of the slinging equipment (as seen above) was incomplete for the lift of this Beam, so a few phone calls and the correctly specified bolts were driven to Broom Lane from the London Area.  In order to make best use of the time, they lifted in the other Beam first, for which they had the correct bolts.  I bumped into the other lorry down Broom Lane - luckily I could reverse out of the way.

Cill Beam being lowered into place!

The view of Broom Lane is changing!

UP - Tunbridge Wells!

Best wishes
