Visit to Beaver Bridges HQ in Shrewsbury
Away from site on Wednesday part of the Project Team undertook a client visit to Beaver Bridges at their HQ in Shrewsbury, to check on progress with the concrete pouring and a meeting about progress.
We were warmly welcomed by the Contracts Manager and Quantity Surveyor, who very kindly laid on lunch - thank you guys!
We started the visit by heading to the board/meeting room, which is well appointed with all that is required for such a visit. Whilst talking generally we were informed the pizzas had arrived, so decided to have lunch first, before visiting the bridge which was just the other side of the wall!
The visit around the bridge was fantastic and very well timed as the working crew had gone for lunch. We were allowed all the time we required to look around, many questions were asked.
I believe this is only the second structure to visit the HQ facility, as their own fabrication facility is in Wigan, however the logistics of this job required space undercover. Apparently the day it arrived the entire office was watching. The lorry driver had great skill in being able to reverse the load through the doors and into the warehouse facility.
I am very grateful to Mr Henry Beaver for clearing sufficient space that the bridge could be worked on.
The Spa Valley Team around the table. From left to right - Jim Dodd (My Father), Graham Cole, Peter Brown (Principal Designer). Our Civil Engineering Manager - Alan Cudlipp was on annual leave. The inside of the building is decorated lovely with photos of previous projects and a piece of work from Mr Doodle, who I believe is from the Kent area?
To the Bridge!
Looking under the bridge!
