Work on the west abutment (Groombridge side) commenced using the scaffolding which was installed at the weekend.
This work is in preparation for the Cill Beam installation.
I've been told that the abutment walls are very strong and it's taking a lot to remove the brickwork. By the end of the day it was estimated that 60% was complete.

Meanwhile up in Shrewsbury further progress has been made on the concrete bridge deck!
